Superseed's New & Improved Cooking Technique

- MARCH 2024 -

Introducing Our New & Improved Crackers 👩‍🍳

Kia ora Superseed whānau

Bought a pack of our crackers recently and noticed something... different? You're onto something.

Our crackers have reached a new level of crunch!

We have refined our cooking technique to bring you a new and improved cracker that has all the same delicious flavours you know and love, but a different texture. Today we're letting you in on why.

Why change?

When we first signed the lease to our crackery six years ago, we needed much less power than we do now.

But as our little family-owned-and-operated business has grown, so has our need for efficient electricity!

What's new...

In the last twelve months, we have been installing our brand new three-phase power to help heat our ovens faster!

We finally got the okay to start using it in November of last year and ever since, the results have been extraordinary.

The results!

The unexpected bonus has been the extraordinary resulting lightness and crispy texture of the crackers. Almost like fresh popcorn, but popped roasted seeds.

Our products are yummier than ever!

Try them now with our newest summer recipe below.

Harvest Baked Marrow

Simple Summer Recipe: Harvest Baked Marrow 🥒

Ingredients

  • 1 marrow (oversized zucchini)
  • 1 cup dried red lentils
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 chopped chorizo sausages or 4 bier sticks (vegetarians can use chickpeas, beans, etc).
  • 1 tin of tomatoes or tomato passata
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 teaspoon each of oregano, basil, thyme
  • 2 teaspoons of sugar
  • Salt and pepper
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup grated cheese

Method
  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  2. Cut the marrow in half lengthwise, scoop out the seeds, and place in a greased roasting dish with the cut side up.
  3. Bake at 180°C for 30 minutes.
  4. In a pan, sauté the onions and chorizo or bier sticks in the olive oil until soft.
  5. Add the tomatoes, garlic, herbs, sugar, and seasonings to the pan. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. Remove the marrow from the oven, season with salt and pepper, and evenly distribute the dried lentils into the marrow cavities.
  7. Fill the marrow with the tomato sauce mixture, then top with breadcrumbs and cheese. Return to the oven and bake for a further 40 minutes until the marrow is soft.
  8. Serve with Superseed Crackers for crunch and extra protein.

This dish is great as a sharing plate with a dollop of sour cream. Enjoy!
